Milo trembled but, being brave, he quickly came up with a plan. “Good day, Luna,” he said, mustering all his courage. “I see you are a fine and noble cat, and I have a proposition for you.”

Luna tilted her head, intrigued. “A proposition? From a mouse? How amusing. Speak quickly, little one, before I change my mind.”

Milo stood tall and cleared his throat. “You are known as the greatest hunter in the village, but what if I told you I could help you catch even more food? If you let me go, I can lead you to the tastiest crumbs and secret stashes only a mouse like me would know about.”

Luna's whiskers twitched. She was curious now. “And why would I trust a mouse? You could just run away.”

Milo smiled nervously. “You could easily catch me again if I tried to flee, couldn’t you? But think about it—why waste time chasing one mouse when you could have a feast?”

Luna considered this for a moment. “Alright, little mouse. Show me what you can do. But remember, one false move, and I’ll have you for lunch.”

So Milo led Luna around the village, showing her all the secret places where bread crumbs, cheese bits, and other treats were hidden. Luna was impressed, gathering enough food to last her several days. She began to see that there might be more value in having a clever mouse as an ally than as a meal.

As the sun began to set, Luna looked at Milo and said, “You’ve kept your word, mouse. I will let you go, but remember—if you ever deceive me, you won’t be so lucky.”
